28th Anniversary at Sundance Resort

Our (Bruce & Barb) anniversary was last Thursday, 10/9, and we were planning on going for an overnight stay at Sundance Resort (up Provo canyon on the back-side of Mt. Timpanogos) the next day (there was a birthday dinner for Max Madsen on our annivesary). But, sickness invaded our house - first Bruce towards the first of the week, but Barbara on Friday. So, we switched our stay to Monday, 10/13, instead. I have to admit, Sundance was one of the better places we've stayed for our anniversary! The "price is right" since it's between seasons, the room was nice (we even got a free upgrade), the restaurant delicious, and the scenery spectacular (I love the back-side of Timp!) We didn't know this in advance, but Sundance runs their chairlift from 9:00-11:00 p.m. during the days around full moon. Even though is was *very cold* (in the 30's) that night, we bundled up in several layers, got a few blankets from the lodge office, and decided to go (the stay came with free tickets). Barb was the instigator and I thought she was crazy because it was so cold! But - it was a lot of fun and the scenery absolutely enchanting: the full moon blanketed the entire landscape in a ghostly white, and there was enough new snow on Timp to make it really stand out in the night. (I was also surprised by the number of other people who braved the cold to go. But, it made a great opportunity to huddle close with a date!) The next day, Tuesday, was warmer with a cloudless blue sky. We went up to Aspen Grove and found a nice spot in the sun to sit, talk, and reflect. (A deer even wandered by.) More pictures are available on our flickr site.
